Fly Fishing Fires Creek
Fly fishing Fires Creek near Murphy/Hayesville NC. This beautiful stream is only about 25 miles from Murphy North Carolina or an hour from Franklin. There are sections that are Hatchery Supported (April-February) and Delayed Harvest (October 1 through first Saturday in June) This picturesque stream easily accessible from Highway 64 up Fires Creek Road about 10 minutes. Pull into the public picnic area to park and walk up the paved path to the Delayed Harvest section or below the walking bridge to the Hatchery Supported area. And OMG there is even a public restroom there with picnic tables nearby.
Both the HS and DH sections are easily accessible from the paths. Don’t be discouraged and stop at the end of the paved pathway at the top of the Delayed Harvest section…..there are fish just waiting for you upstream. Remember single hook, artificial only and catch and release in the Delayed Harvest section. It is so beautiful and so accessible! Don’t miss the beautiful waterfalls! Note: The Delayed Harvest is above the walking bridge at the park area and the Hatchery Supported area is downstream from the walking bridge. Can’t fish the Hatchery Supported area the month of March.
