Franklin North Carolina is trout fishing central.
It is so close to so many streams…a few of which are linked below. This small but charismatic town is very close to torut fishing in Western North Carolina.
It is the county seat of Macon County, so there are plenty of shops, eateries, services and entertainment (Smoky Mountain Performing Arts Center).
The Cullasaja River comes from Highlands through the Cullasaja Gap along highway 64 (beautiful drive, beautiful falls) and joins the Little Tennessee River in Franklin. The Little Tennessee River continues into the town and forms the Lake Emory (Bass/Carp/Bream), and thereafter the tailwater (Smallmouth, Bream, Rock Bass) continues on into Lake Fontana. the LTR is great for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, tubing or jus messing about.
